Se non vi fosse bastato il nudo in copertina, a confermare che stavolta si ha a che fare con una femme fatale, ci pensa il prima seducente e poi deciso piglio della opener "Paloma's Down". La prima traccia di "The Price Of The Ticket" è infatti un buon anticipo di quanto la voce di Wendy James si divertirà a fare l'incantatrice, regina indiscussa di una corte di collaboratori di tutto rispetto tra cui spiccano Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) al basso, James Sclavunos (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds) alla batteria e Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith/Nuggets) alla chitarra.

Nonostante il timbro limpido, quasi adolescenziale, con cui viene scandito il "I play a liquid guitar" in apertura al seguente singolo "Indigent Blues", la vocalist (incredibilmente) cinquantenne dimostra una discreta versatilità maturata non soltanto dietro al microfono di Transivision Vamp e Racine ma anche durante la successiva carriera solista di cui il presente lavoro è il terzo episodio.

La tracklist di "The Price Of The Ticket", pare quasi un menù da cui l'ascoltatore può selezionare portate che spaziano dal rock più grezzo e ammiccante di "Bad Intentions and a Bit of Cruelty" al pop, passando per l'accenno di punk che anima un brano come "You're a Dirtbomb, Lester" oppure per il rockabilly di "Why Oh Why Do You Hurt Me Still?". A concludere il tutto, dopo il mood groovy di "Situation Normal at Surfrider" la James propone la sua personale reinterpretazione di "You're So Great" e "It's Alright Ma" rispettivamente di Fred 'Sonic' Smith e Bob Dylan.

Ispirato alla theme song del film "Georgy Girl" dei The Seekers, l'ultimogenito della James, personaggio che indica Patti Smith quale suo modello, essendo stata proclamata a sua volta "pin-up originale" da niente meno che Miley Cyrus, merita una chance anche solo per l'immeditezza di certi arrangiamenti freschi e mai banali che rendono "The Price Of The Ticket" una vivace parentesi ad capace di allietare questo rigido inverno.

If the nude on the artwork was not enough, it is up to the tempting and resolved attitude of the opener "Paloma's Down" to confirm this time we are dealing with a femme fatale. The first track of "The Price Of The Ticket" is, in fact, a good anticipation of how much Wendy James voice will enjoy playing the enchantress, undisputed queen in a court of collaborators such as Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) on bass guitar, James Sclavunos (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds) behind the drum kit and Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith/Nuggets) on guitar.

Although the clear timbre, almost teenage-like, used for the line "I play a liquid guitar" opening the single "Indigent Blues", the (unbelievably) 50 year old vocalist shows a remarkable versatility maturated not only behind the microphone of Transivision Vamp and Racine but also during the following solo career, this being the third act of the latter.

"The Price Of The Ticket" tracklist looks like a menu from which the listener can select a course ranging from the rough and winking rock of "Bad Intentions and a Bit of Cruelty" to pop, including the hint of punk animating "You're a Dirtbomb, Lester" and "Why Oh Why Do You Hurt Me Still?" rockabilly. Following "Situation Normal at Surfrider" groovy mood, James concludes with her personal reinterpretation of "You're So Great" and "It's Alright Ma" by Fred 'Sonic' Smith and Bob Dylan respectively.

Inspired by "Georgy Girl" theme song by The Seekers, James' last-born deserves a chance thanks to the immediacy and freshness of certain unordinary arrangements. "The Price Of The Ticket" is definitely an energetic break meant to liven up this rigid winter.
