Hi and welcome to SpazioRock.it! I guess you very confident and satisfied with the result achieved so far by the whole "Carnival Days" package, the first reviews have been very supportive. What is the feedback you're proudest of? Were you expecting such a warm response?
I guess the best feedback one can receive is that people show up for our concerts. I think that is the real measurement of success - not just figures and data online. Also receiving ongoing commercial radio play is very warmly welcomed.
What is the hardest?
Maybe the hardest, but most important and rewarding factor is to stay relevant by constantly challenging yourself musically and improve your act on every level.
I love the artwork of the record cover. There is a clear reference to the Yin and Yang. Whose idea was this? Is there such a balance in the band? And how is does it work out?
It was my original idea which Joel drafted out. I believe there is energy in this universe which always has an opposite or counter force. Similar to the logic of ones' action giving birth to a re-action. The goal is to surround yourself with people who contribute to your energy in a symbiotic manner and create something grand together rather than remain alone and bound by your restrictions. Nothing in our existence is black and white - the mixture of different shades is what makes life beautiful and blossom.
First time I heard your music I thought "these guys take their music seriously, but they don't take themselves seriously enough". Now I clearly sense you are starting to focus on a wider range of components when it comes to your passion and it sounds like also your lyrics have reached a higher level. Do you agree?
Of course. Although while it is healthy to keep a certain amount of dignity and take pride in your work, you should never take yourself too seriously.
Listening to the songs of the new album people might catch a glimpse of Skid Row, are you guys big fans of that band? And what are your other main influences?
We are inspired by life itself ranging from everyday events to mind boggling theoretical questions about the universe. Musically we try to be honest and authentic. It is not a secret where our roots are, but at the same time I think it is fair to call our music original and one-of-a-kind.
In your music we can hear really well that you guys have been together for a long time already and have a very special connection. Which is the song on this new album which best celebrates your unity?
I would say "Reincarnation" because it is a song that requires some miles together to perform in a proper manner.
You released the video for the song "People Like Us" which portraits our society at its worst. Still, you try to deliver a very positive message. If you were to make just one decision to change the world from your point of view, which one would it be?
If I were to play the role of creation, I would erase the need for greed in the human mind.
Talking about another of your music videos, "Harder To Breathe", how long did it take for Hannes to cover up with all that painting? Just kidding, I wanted to know why did you choose to do such a thing... Is there any kind of metaphoric meaning behind it?
It looks cool. If you wish to find a deeper meaning, it could portray a person going pale while being strangled or choking.
Ok guys, thanks for your time. Can you anticipate to your Italian fans when we will have the chance to enjoy your powerful live shows here in our country in the next future?
Hopefully in the near future! European tour dates are currently under construction and I am sure Italy will be a part of them.
