Come in molte vostre canzoni il concetto musicale del nuovo album (ndr XIII) parla di amore e di comprensione. Quali sono state le esperienze di vita che vi hanno ispirato in questa particolare occasione?
Credo che la situazione mondiale abbia bisogna di una band come i TNT, con testi stimolanti e un messaggio di speranza. Prendiamo anche una posizione politica attraverso messaggi nascosti inseriti nei nostri testi. L'Hard Rock non deve per forza trattare sempre e solo di gothic, vecchi problemi e negatività. Baol Bardot Bulsara è da poco il vostro nuovo cantante. Come ha contribuito alle nuove canzoni?
Baol è un cantante fantastico. Ha portato un sacco di energia nella band e sta facendo un ottimo lavoro.
In questa nuova release, le tue parti di chitarra sono potentissime in confronto agli altri strumenti. Questo è dovuto al fatto che sono state tue molte idee alla base delle canzoni?
La chitarra è sempre stata potente nei TNT. Questa volta volevamo un suono molto forte con qualche particolare stravagante. Siccome ho avuto spesso io l'idea iniziale per il riff è naturale che il suono si sviluppi intorno alla chitarra.
Penso che il titolo "XIII" stia per il numero di album che avete rilasciato negli anni... ma suppongo che ci sia un'altra ragione dietro questa scelta...
Crediamo che "XIII" descrive la situazione nella quale si trovava la band. Inoltre, volevamo che cover, copertina e titolo fossero molto semplici, ispirati agli anni 70.
Che cosa rappresenta questo album per la vostra carriera?
L'album rappresenta un manifesto. I TNT sono una band su cui poter contare. La chiamano "Staying Power".
Il 31 Maggio c'è stato un party di presentazione nel quale i fan hanno avuto l'opportunità di ascoltare il nuovo album. Come è andata?
Il party di presentazione è stato divertente. È piaciuto a tutti i fan il che è stata una sorpresa. Nell R&R ci sono sempre gli hater.
Sulla vostra pagina di Facebook si legge in una recente dichiarazione: "La direzione musicale del nuovo album contiene classiche canzoni dei TNT ed è nel complesso molto melodica. A tal proposito, "Get Ready For Some Hard Rock" è davvero atipica per l'album che consiste principalmente di melodic hard rock che riprende la scia dei TNT degli anni 80". Pensate che ciò rappresenterà una nuova direzione per l'imminente release?
Penso che questo album ci abbia dato la forza per continuare il nostro cammino. Se tutto andrà bene, ci sarà più musica dei TNT priva di compromessi.
Ho letto che Tony Harnell è stata un gentiluomo e vi ha lasciato usare due canzoni che avete originariamente scritto insieme a lui. Quali sono?
"Can't Breathe Anymore" e "Catch a Wave".
Eppure, secondo Harnell, i conflitti all'interno dei TNT sono esplosi in maniera smisurata. Potete spiegare ai fan cos'è successo?
Non parlo di fatti privati della band coi media, solo di amore e di musica.
Esiste la possibilità che i fan possano vedervi in tour nei prossimi mesi in Italia?
Speriamo davvero di potere venire in Italia nel 2018 o nel 2019. Così potrò rivivere i miei anni di gioventù in Italia. Amo la campagna e ho viaggiato molto nella vostra splendida natura. Genova, per esempio, è una città in cui faccio sempre ritorno quando ho bisogno di ispirazione.
Potreste lasciare un messaggio ai vostri fan e lettori italiani?
Se volete pensare fuori dagli schemi dovete ragionare al di fuori di essi. Auguriamo il meglio ai nostri fan italiani.

The lyrical concept of the new album is love and understanding, like in many of your songs. What kind of facts inspired this message on this particular occasion?
I think the overall world situation needs a band like TNT,with uplifting lyrics and a message of hope.We also take political stands through hidden messages in our lyrics.Hard Rock doesn't always have to be about gothic, worn-out issues and negativity.Learn from Queen, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.
Your new singer is Baol Bardot Bulsara. What did he bring to the new songs?
Baol is a fantastic singer. He has created a lot of energy within the band and is doing a great job.
Your guitar parts on this new release are extremely powerful compared to the other instruments. Is this because songs came up mainly from your ideas?
The guitars have always been powerful in TNT. This time we wanted a really powerful sound with some extragavanza. Since I often come up with the initial riffidea it's natural that the sound evolves around the guitars.
The title "XIII" stands for the number of albums you released through the years I guess. Or is there a further reason why you chose it?
We think XIII describes the situation the band was in.We also wanted a very simple cover, artwork and title... inspired by the 70's.
What does this album represent in your career?
This album represents a manifest. TNT is a classic band to count on. They call it ‘StayingPower'.
On May 31st there has been a listening party where fans got the opportunity to hear the new album. How did it go?
The listening party was fun. All the fans liked it, which was a suprise. There's always ‘hater' in R&R.
In a recent statement on your facebook page we read :"The musical direction on the new album contains classic TNT songs and is generally very melodic. In that respect, ‘Get Ready For Some Hard Rock' is kind of untypical for the album that mainly consists of melodic hard rock in the vein of '80s TNT" Do you think this will represent a new direction for the forthcoming releases?
I think this album gave us strength to continue the journey. Hopefully there will be more TNT music with no compromise.
I read Tony Harnell was a gentleman and let you use two songs you had originally co-written with him. Which ones?
"Can't Breathe Anymore" and "Catch A Wave".
Still, according to Harnell, interpersonal conflicts within TNT "get blown out of proportion." Can you explain to the fans what happened?
I don't talk about internal stuff in the media, only love and Music.
Can fans expect to see you touring in Italy in the next months?
We really hope to come to Italy in 2018 or 2019. Then I can relive my young years in Italy. I love the country and have travelled lot's around in your beautiful nature. Genova for instance, is a city I always return to for inspiration.

In order to think and sound ‘outside the box', you have to BE outside the box. All the best to our Italian fans.
