Metallica hanno ufficialmente inaugurato la loro residency allo Sphere di Las Vegas. Il 1° ottobre, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett e Robert Trujillo hanno dato il via a Life Burns Faster, una serie di 24 concerti che porterà la band nella futuristica venue fino al 13 marzo 2027.
Per i Metallica si tratta della prima esibizione allo Sphere e della prima residency della loro carriera nella struttura inaugurata nel 2023. Lo show ha sfruttato le enormi possibilità offerte dagli schermi immersivi della venue, trasformando brani come Creeping Death, Wherever I May Roam e The Call of Ktulu in vere e proprie esperienze audiovisive.
La scaletta ha riservato anche alcune sorprese. La band ha aperto il concerto con Battery, scelta che non si verificava da dodici anni, per poi proseguire con Creeping Death, Now That We’re Dead, Sad But True e The Shortest Straw. Particolarmente significativa la presenza di “…And Justice for All”, eseguita per la prima volta dal 2014.
Tra i momenti più intensi della serata, The Call of Ktulu, dedicata a Cliff Burton, mentre il finale ha affidato a Seek & Destroy e Master of Puppets il compito di chiudere oltre due ore di concerto.
La residency Life Burns Faster proseguirà con una formula particolare: nessuna delle due serate settimanali presenterà una scaletta completamente identica, permettendo ai Metallica di esplorare ampiamente il proprio repertorio.
