It wasn’t easy, but they made it. The endless darkness of that 5 October 2010 is finally pierced through by the strongest beam of light, as red as fire, that brought them to a real rebirth: "Firebirth". Those who know Leo Leoni (watch the videointerview) were already aware that the undisputed Gotthard leader could as well fall down but would rise again sooner or later. Leo could never accept to just stand still and look at his own boat running aground because of a fatal tragedy; he firmly faced the situation, took the time to put ideas and thoughts back into place, and with his loyal adventure mates Hena, Freddy and Marc he put himself out to look for a singer to replace the beloved Steve Lee. Finding that friend was not easy, but they made it.
Welcome Nic, welcome fire-red light, extraordinary voice which only needed to be discovered. If you ask me for a technical opinion, Nic Maeder is the right compromise between a modern David Coverdale and Steve’s unforgettable voice, someone who’s able to touch your heart when you hear him singing, regardless of how good the song is. It should be said that "Firebirth" sounds 100% Gotthard, from the first to the last note, and that the band accomplished something huge here: as inspired as they could be, they gave birth to thirteen astonishing tracks that leave you speechless at first listening. You expect a transition album, and you find out you’re holding the best rock album of the year. A number of top-quality hits featuring staggering solos, catchy choruses, and the strongest groove with a perfect rhythm section. Rock, tons of rock, from “Starlight” to “Give Me Real”, from “Fight” to Yippie Aye Yay”, some Led Zeppelin, some Aerosmith here and there, but Gotthard’s name is branded all over... and if you shed some tears to the ballads “Tell Me” and especially “Where Are You” don’t worry, it’s perfectly ok: they are love messages coming out from real pain, they are messages coming from the heart.
"Firebirth" is an elixir of life that will hypnotize you as you keep on listening over and over, and it will prove to be the perfect match of elegance, creativity and melody. You will love and cherish it as the missing piece to turn your day from dark to bright, and I am sure someone from above will be glad – yes, he surely will – and will sing along these new songs to praise life. Non era facile, ma ce l’hanno fatta. Il buio senza confini di quel 5 ottobre 2010 è oggi interrotto da un fascio di luce intensissimo, rosso fuoco, che li ha riportati a una vera rinascita: "Firebirth". Chi conosce Leo Leoni (guarda la videointervista), sapeva a prescindere che il leader indiscusso dei Gotthard poteva anche cadere ma che prima o poi si sarebbe rialzato. Leo non avrebbe mai accettato di guardare invano la propria barca arenarsi a causa di un tragico evento del destino, ha preso in pugno la situazione, si è preso il tempo necessario per rimettere in sesto idee e pensieri e insieme ai suoi fidati compagni d’avventure Hena, Freddy e Marc si è prodigato nella ricerca di un cantante che potesse sostituire il compianto Steve Lee al microfono. Trovare quell’amico non era facile, ma ce l’hanno fatta.
Benvenuto Nic, benvenuta luce rosso fuoco, una voce straordinaria che aveva soltanto bisogno di essere scoperta. Volete un parere tecnico? Nic Maeder è il giusto compromesso tra un David Coverdale dei nostri tempi e l’indimenticabile timbro di Steve, insomma, uno che quando lo senti cantare emoziona a prescindere dalla bontà di un brano. Va predetto che "Firebirth" è un disco 100% Gotthard, dalla prima all’ultima nota, e che la band ha fatto uno sforzo sovrumano perchè, ispiratissima, ha partorito tredici brani spettacolari che lasciano impietriti al primo impatto: ti aspetti un disco di transizione, ti ritrovi tra le mani il miglior album rock dell’anno corrente. Una serie di hit dall’altissimo tasso qualitativo che si materializzano attraverso funambolici assoli, ritornelli indimenticabili, e groove all’ennesima potenza con una sezione ritmica perfetta. Rock, tanto rock, da “Starlight” a “Give Me Real”, da “Fight” a Yippie Aye Yay”, un po’ Led Zeppelin, un po’ Aerosmith, ma col marchio dei Gotthard impresso a fuoco… e se verserete qualche lacrima sulle ballate “Tell Me” e soprattuto “Where Are You” state tranquilli, è tutto normale: sono messaggi d’amore che nascono dalla sofferenza, quella vera, sono messaggi che nascono dal cuore.
"Firebirth" è un elisir di lunga vita che vi ipnotizzerà durante ascolti e riascolti compulsivi, e si rivelerà essere un perfetto connubio tra eleganza, estro e melodia. Voi tutti lo adorerete e le coccolerete come fosse il tassello mancante per trasformare la vostra giornata da cupa a solare, e sono certo che qualcuno dall’alto apprezzerà, oh se apprezzerà, e canterà insieme a noi i nuovi inni alla vita. Einfach war es nicht, aber sie haben es geschafft! Ein roter, starker Lichtstrahl durchsticht die endlose Dunkelheit des 05. Oktobers 2010. Auf diesem feuerroten Lichtstahl erleben Gotthard ihre Wiedergeburt: "Firebirth" Diejenige die Leo Leoni kennen, wussten, dass der unbestrittene Gotthard Leader, zwar straucheln kann aber sich danach früher oder später wieder erheben würde. Stillstehen, nach dieser Tragödie kampflos zusehen wie seine Felle davon schwimmen – das ist nicht Leo. Er stellte sich der neuen Situation, nahm sich die Zeit Gedanken und Ideen zu sammeln. Mit seinen treuen Abenteuer-Kumpels Hena, Freddy und Marc suchte er einen neuen Sänger um den unvergessenen Steve zu ersetzen. Diesen neuen Freund zu finden, war nicht einfach aber sie haben es geschafft.
Willkommen Nic, eine aussergewöhnliche Stimme die auf ihre Entdeckung gewartet hat, willkommen feuerrotes Licht. Falls ihr mir eine technische Meinung erlaubt, so ist Nic Maeder der richtige Kompromiss zwischen einem modernen David Coverdale und Steve’s unvergessener Stimme. Jemand der, wenn er singt, dein Herz berührt, egal wie gut der Song ist. "Firebirth" hört sich 100% wie Gotthard an – von der ersten zur letzten Note. Die Band hat etwas ganz grosses erschaffen – ihre fortdauernde Inspiration beschert uns 13 erstaunliche Tracks, die euch sprachlos machen werdet wenn ihr sie erstmals hört. Du erwartest ein Übergangsalbum und dann hältst du das Rockalbum des Jahres in den Händen. Etliche top-quality Hits mit umwerfenden Solos, mitreissenden Refrains, starkem Groove und perfektem Rhythmus. Rock, Tonnen von Rock, von “Starlight” zu Give Me Real”, von “Fight” zu Yippie Aye Yay”, etwas Led Zeppelin, etwas Aerosmith hier und dort, dennoch unverkennbar Gotthard… und falls es bei den Balladen “Tell Me” und speziell “Where Are You” Tränen gibt – es ist ganz ok: es sind Liebesbotschaften, geprägt von Trauer und Schmerz – es sind Botschaften aus dem Herzen.
"Firebirth" ist ein Lebenselixir, das seine hypnotische Wirkung entfalten wird, je mehr ihr es hört – eine perfekte Mischung aus Eleganz, Kreativität und Melodie. Ein Schmuckstück welches jeden Tag heller erscheinen lässt. Und ich bin mir dabei ganz sicher, da oben ist jemand ganz happy – und singt diese neuen Songs mit – aus voller Überzeugung.

Ce n’était pas facile, mais ils l’ont fait. À la suite du tragique événement du 5 octobre 2010, le groupe a traversé une période sombre. Aujourd’hui, le bout du tunnel est en vue grâce à un rayon de lumière intense, rouge comme le feu, symbole d’une véritable renaissance répondant au nom de "Firebirth". Ceux qui connaissent Leo Leoni (voir l’interview en vidéo) savaient déjà que ce leader incontesté du groupe Gotthard pouvait tomber, mais qu’il se relèverait tôt ou tard. Leo ne pourrait jamais accepter de regarder, impassible, son navire s’échouer à cause d’une tragédie fatale; il a donc résolument fait face à la situation et pris le temps de remettre ses idées en place. Ensuite, avec ses compagnons d’aventure de toujours Hena, Freddy et Marc, il s’est mis à la recherche d’un nouveau chanteur pour succéder au regretté Steve Lee. Trouver ce nouvel ami n’était pas chose aisée, mais ils ont trouvé la perle rare.
Bienvenue à Nic et à son aura rouge feu. Une voix extraordinaire qui n’attendait que d’être découverte. Techniquement, Nic Maeder est le bon compromis entre un nouveau David Coverdale et la voix inoubliable de Steve. C’est quelqu’un qui, quand il chante, parle directement à votre cœur, quelle que soit la qualité de la chanson qu’il interprète. "Firebirth" a un son 100% Gotthard, de la première à la dernière note, et force est de reconnaître que le groupe a réussi quelque chose d’énorme: très inspirés, ils ont écrit 13 morceaux étonnants qui vous laisseront sans voix à la première écoute. L’on aurait pu s’attendre à un album de transition et vous allez vous rendre compte que vous tenez entre les mains le meilleur album rock de l’année qui contient toute une série de titres de qualité, agrémentés de solos stupéfiants, de refrains entraînants et du groove le plus puissant grâce à une section rythmique parfaite. Du rock, des tonnes de rock, de “Starlight” à “Give Me Real”, de “Fight” à “Yippie Aye Yay”, avec ici et là des touches de Led Zeppelin ou d’Aerosmith , mais toujours avec la griffe Gotthard... et si les ballades “Tell Me” et surtout “Where Are You” vous arrachent une larme, c’est normal: ce sont des messages d’amour né d’une véritable douleur, des messages qui viennent du coeur.
"Firebirth" est un élixir de vie qui vous envoûtera et que vous écouterez en boucle. Un mélange parfait d’élégance, de créativité et de mélodie. Vous l’adorerez car ce sera la baguette magique qui balaie les nuages de votre quotidien et il y a quelqu’un là-haut qui sera heureux – j’en suis sûr – et qui chantera lui aussi ces nouveaux titres qui sont une ode à la vie. No ha sido fácil, pero lo han logrado. La oscuridad sin fin desde aquel 5 de octubre de 2010, finalmente ha sido vencida por el fuerte rayo de luz, rojo como el fuego, que los ha llevado a un verdadero renacimiento: "Firebirth". Quienes conocen a Leo Leoni (ver la vídeo-entrevista) ya eran conscientes que el indiscutido líder de Gotthard podría, muy bien, caer bien bajo pero, sin dudas, tarde o temprano, se levantaría de nuevo.
Leo nunca hubiera podido resignarse y ver a su propio barco encallado a causa de esa fatalidad; con firmeza enfrentó a la situación, se tomó el tiempo para organizar sus ideas y pensamientos, y con sus leales compañeros de aventura, Hena, Freddy y Marc comenzaron a buscar un cantante para reemplazar al querido Steve Lee. Encontrar ese nuevo amigo no ha sido fácil, pero lo han logrado. Bienvenido Nic, bienvenido ese fuego de luz roja, bienvenida esa voz extraordinaria, que sólo necesitaba ser descubierta. Si me piden una opinión técnica, Nic Maeder es la mixtura justa entre un moderno David Coverdale y un inolvidable Steve, alguien capaz de tocar tu corazón cuando lo oyes cantar, sin importar lo buena que sea la canción.
Hay que decir que "Firebirth" suena 100% Gotthard, desde la primera hasta la última nota; y que la banda ha logrado algo grande aquí: tan inspirados como podrían ser, han dado a luz trece increíbles pistas que te dejan sin palabras a primera escucha. Seguramente tú esperas un álbum de transición, pero en realidad, te encontrarás que estás sosteniendo el mejor álbum de rock del año. Un sinnúmero de top hits de alta calidad que ofrecen sorprendentes solos, estribillos pegadizos, y el más fuerte “groove” con un ritmo perfecto. Rock, toneladas de rock and roll, desde “Starlight” hasta “Give me real”, desde “Fight” hasta “Yippie ay yay”... algo de Led Zeppelin, algo de Aerosmith, pero la marca Gotthard está en cada nota... Y si al escuchar las baladas tales como “Tell me”, y especialmente, “Where are you", te han caído lágrimas no te preocupes, está perfectamente bien: son mensajes de amor que nacen de un dolor real, que provienen de lo más profundo del corazón.
"Firebirth" es un elixir de vida que te hipnotiza y te mantendrá en la escucha una y otra vez, ya que resultará ser la combinación perfecta de elegancia, creatividad y melodía. Amarás y cuidarás esta pieza como la pieza que faltaba, para convertir tu día oscuro en uno brillante, y si de algo estoy seguro... es que alguien desde allí arriba, estará muy a gusto -sí, seguramente lo hará- y cantará a lo largo de estas nuevas canciones para alabar a la vida.
